The classic pear lead goes really far, almost as far as Distance Casting, and is less affected by side wind due to its compact shape. This means that the pear shaped sinker adapts to most fishing situations depending on your casting skills. Its compact shape can be an advantage when fishing in silt. Use a light sinker, say 28 gr or 56 gr and let it sink into the mud, this will increase its inertia considerably and a light sinker will turn into a heavy sinker in the mud.
