Description
The Kamakura Krank has a unique shape, characterized by a very wide opening, with a fairly short, curved shank in a slightly upturned eye - the upturned effect is accentuated by the shape of the shank and the way it rounds up to the eye. The point, which is slightly beaked, is offset and this shape helps it to sink into the hook once it has hooked. These hooks are very sturdy and feature a micro barb that doesn't hinder penetration, but once in place allows the hook to stay in place. A barbless version is also available. The Krank can be used with a wide variety of different rigs and is incredibly effective even with a simple knotless knot, or it can be used on more complicated rigs, such as the Spinner Rig that Tom Dove himself favours. The tips are protected by a layer of wax that must be carefully removed before use, and come in a box that holds each hook securely in place - each box contains ten hooks. Barbed and barbless versions are available in sizes 2, 4, 6 or 8.
