The NEW Kombat Boots were designed by Danny Fairbrass to replicate the high-end walking shoes he used to wear while fishing, but with the inclusion of a few extra features to make them perfect for anglers, and without such a high price tag.
They were designed with comfort and functionality in mind, as well as looking the part on the bank. They have excellent waterproof qualities, which is essential when walking through wet grass or stepping into shallow water or puddles, as wet feet get cold quickly and can ruin your session. The soles were designed with grip and durability in mind, and the tread provides superb grip on the types of surfaces you're likely to encounter when fishing and will help you avoid slipping.
Kombat boots are also great for walking long distances, as they offer support without being stiff, and you won't even feel like you're wearing them! Many walking boots can be difficult to put on and take off quickly, but these were designed specifically for anglers and open wide so you can put them on quickly when you have a hit in the middle of the night. Another problem with some walking boots is that the laces keep coming undone, which not only means you have to stop to re-tie them, but they drag in the mud and can trip you up.
Danny Fairbrass explains, "They are modeled after a high fashion walking boot I bought at Italie a few years ago for a lot more money than these. They have a leather upper and a waterproof membrane inside, so you can stay in the water if you want to. People always say they're warm - no, they're not warm, because they're not supposed to be, because they're supposed to be waterproof and have a good grip, but wearing them with a combination of our waterproof and merino socks will keep your feet warm inside."
