Mainline Clones have been designed to give you a durable hook that can be fished on a particle bed, and will match it in terms of color and flavor.
The main purpose of Clones is, as their nom suggests, to "clone" whatever mix of particles or spods you put out, and replicate it in a "matching hatch" hook that's much more convenient to use than the particle itself. Especially as some particle baits are too small or soft to be used on your rigs, and certainly if you want to be sure your bait is always on the hair and working as it should for extended periods - baits like sweetcorn for example.
Clones are available in four different types/flavors, in 13 mm pop-ups or 10 mm wafters x 14 mm, and although they are primarily designed for use on particles, they also proved very effective in all fishing situations during testing.
Nutty Hemp:
Hemp is one of the biggest fish attractors and carp love to eat this oily seed, so much so point that when they're on your bait, you can see oil slicks hitting the surface! Hemp also has a visual appeal, as this shiny dark brown/black seed stands out on the lake bottom thanks to the white flecks that result from the seed bursting and beginning to germinate. To mimic this phenomenon, not only in flavor but also in appearance, Clones Hemp pop-ups and wafters are two-tone dark black and slightly off-white.
Maple:
Maple peas are a bait that has been largely forgotten, but has always been very effective, and carp love these sweet, dark-brown particles, which emit an attractive cloud once they're cooked down to softness and flavor. Clones Maple pop-ups and wafters are brown in color and have an unmistakable maple flavor.
Sweet corn:
Sweetcorn is a carp bait that has been around since the 1970s and has played a part in catching countless carp. Even today, it remains one of the most effective baits for carp and has recently enjoyed a resurgence in popularity. Clone Sweetcorn pop-ups and wafters are bright yellow in color and have a pleasant corn-like taste and smell. They are an excellent hook bait to fish over golden grain.
Tiger Nut:
There's no denying that carp love tiger nuts! Their crunch and sticky sugars are produced once they're prepared and this bait has a unique nutty taste. Clones Tiger Nut pop-ups and wafters are off-white with darker flecks and taste just like tiger nuts. They're perfect for fishing over whole or crushed nuts (like Power Particle Nut Crush) or over a bait bed if you need to avoid the tiger nut ban.
